Archbishop Atallah reaffirms Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem

AMMAN — Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem Atallah Hanna on Thursday reaffirmed his attachment to the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

In a statement issued by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Hanna expressed certainty that His Majesty King Abdullah is fully aware of the grave conditions in Jerusalem and the dangerous conspiracies targeting Islamic and Christian sanctuaries.

The archbishop said that all have to unite in defence of Jerusalem and its holy sites to stop conspiracies against them, stressing that "Christians and Muslims belong to the same people and defend the same cause”.
