AQABA — Employees at the Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) on Sunday began a strike on Sunday, which they said will continue until their demands are met.
Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Chief Commissioner Kamel Mahadin, who is also chairman of ACT, called on employees to resume their work and avoid causing harm to the terminal and national economy.
At a meeting held at the Aqaba governor’s office and attended by representatives of security services, Mahadin said any work rights and demands can only be achieved through dialogue and legal means, which ACT had sought to accomplish with all stakeholders before the strike.
