Aqaba railway workers protest salaries, living conditions

AMMAN — Aqaba Railways’ employees on Monday organised a protest in front of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), caling for salaries, promotions and improved living standards, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The employees demanded the ASEZA to include their bonus salaries at the Social Security Corporation, pay the annual leaves allowance for both 2017 and 2018, change their government health insurance to private and increase the annual bonus to JD150.
Protestors also demanded that the ASEZA unifies housing allowances for all employees at JD150 and appoint labourers on a full-time basis. The ASEZA reaffirmed that it will not terminate any working railway employees.
