AMMAN — President and members of the Aqaba Governorate Council on Monday visited the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle that docked in Aqaba a few days ago.
They met the aircraft carrier’s commander and several officers and were briefed on the carrier and its tasks, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. President of the council Imad Amr stressed the "deep-rooted" relations between Jordan and France and keenness of both countries' leaders to further develop them in all fields. Amr presented the aircraft carrier’s commander a souvenir.
The nuclear-powered ship is the largest in the French navy and has some 1,750 officers, pilots and sailors on board, Petra added.
