APU reaffirms support of King’s custodianship in Jerusalem

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday received written letters from presidents of Arab parliaments and councils and heads of delegations and participants in the 29th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (APU), which was recently hosted by the Kingdom under the theme “Jerusalem is the Eternal Capital of the State of Palestine”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In the letter, they valued the King’s support of the Palestinian cause and his keenness on finding a just solution that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on their national soil with East Jerusalem as its capital.

They also stressed the APU’s support for the Hashemite Custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and their rejection to any attempt to tamper with the historical and legal status quo of the Holy City, Petra reported.
