AMMAN — The Department of Antiquities and Turquoise Mountain Foundation on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding to provide training on the protection of cultural heritage. The memo is aimed at enhancing artefacts production through holding workshops as well as increasing their exports.
Under the memo, signed by Director General of the Department of Antiquities Yazeed Alayan and Turquoise Country Director Richard Dwerryhouse, a training programme will be implemented to allow knowledge and skills transfer to the future generations, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Alayan said that the memo seeks to increase the contributions of traditional crafts in supporting the economy, highlighting Turquoise Mountain’s technical capabilities in training. Dwerryhouse said that the agreement is aimed at preserving the endangered cultural heritage in the region and enhancing efficiency in the fields of traditional crafts.
