AMMAN — The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) on Monday executed nine major operations, leading to the arrest of 14 suspects involved in drug trafficking, three of whom are classified as high-risk suspects.

Among the key cases was the arrest of a notorious suspect in Ajloun with 56 outstanding security warrants for drug-related offences, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said.

In another operation in Jerash, authorities arrested a suspect wanted for seven drug-related charges, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

A third case involved the interception of a postal parcel at a border crossing, containing half a kilogramme of crystal meth, which led to the arrest of the individual who had requested the package.

In Irbid, two separate raids resulted in significant seizures, where two kilogrammes of crystal meth were found in possession of a drug dealer, and another individual was arrested with synthetic hashish and narcotic pills.

In Aqaba, a suspect was arrested with 35 palm-sized sheets of hashish, while a raid in Amman resulted in arresting three individuals along with the confiscation of a firearm and narcotics.

In Mafraq, two drug dealers were apprehended with four palm-sized sheets of hashish and 600 grammes of crystal meth.

The PSD said that all suspects have been referred to the public prosecutor of the State Security Court for further legal proceedings.
