AMMAN — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) on Saturday foiled an attempt to smuggle a quarter of a million narcotic pills stored in a cargo vehicle and arrested a number of drug traffickers in various areas of the Kingdom.
Upon receiving a tip-off indicating that a group of individuals were preparing to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic pills outside the Kingdom, AND personnel began collecting information to identify the suspects as well as the time of transfer of the narcotics, a security source said.
The investigation enabled the AND personnel to identify several people involved in the case, in addition to the time of transfer via the cargo vehicle, using ambushes that were previously set up, the source added.
AND also dealt with 10 other cases in different areas of the Kingdom which resulted in the arrest of 14 suspects, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
