AND records 19 drug cases, 23 arrests over weekend

AMMAN — The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) has dealt with 19 drug trafficking cases over the past few days and arrested 23 people on charges of possessing a large number of narcotics and nine firearms.
The department said that two suspected drug dealers were arrested in south Amman, and that one of them is wanted for eight counts. After a search of their vehicle, 13 palm-sized sheets of hashish, 574 narcotic pills and an automatic firearm were seized. AND personnel have dealt with four drug cases in west and south Amman that resulted in the arrest of four suspects, the AND spokesperson said, as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
In Balqa, AND personnel arrested a man after raiding his house and seizing marijuana that he had allegedly cultivated at home. Other cases were registered in Mafraq, Irbid, Madaba, Zarqa, Maan and central Badia, the official added.
