Ancient Ya’ish family house in Luweibdeh to be turned into cultural centre

AMMAN — HRH Princess Dana, president of the National Association for the Conservation of Petra and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Cultural Heritage, has signed an agreement with the Ya’ish family to use their ancient home in Jabal Luweibdeh as a cultural centre, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Thursday.

Princess Dana pointed out that the agreement includes the association’s cooperation with the Ya’ish family to renovate the landmark building and highlight it as a unique example of the architectural heritage of the capital and to promote it as a cultural centre.

The Ya’ish House was built in 1952 with a unique architectural style of yellow and pink stone with distinctive engravings, it is located in the heart of Jabal Luweibdeh, one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Amman, according to Petra.
