AMMAN — Senator Jawad Anani was elected on Tuesday as chairman of the board of Ad-Dustour daily. Anani's election came during the first meeting of the daily's new board members, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
"We have no choice but to restore this Arabic daily's glamour," Anani, who has served as Royal Court chief and a minister, said in remarks following his election. The chairman and five board members of Jordan's oldest Arabic daily resigned last April as journalists at the financially troubled newspaper called for immediate intervention to salvage it.
