Amman wins $200,000 grant for children’s climate park project

AMMAN — The Mayors Migration Council announced on Wednesday that the city of Amman has been granted $200,000 by the Global Cities Initiative for Migrants and Refugees, in commemoration of World Refugee Day.

Amman was chosen as one of the six winning cities, alongside Ramallah in Palestine, Milan in Italy, Donetsk in Ukraine, Montevideo in Uruguay and Guayaquil in Ecuador. These cities presented project proposals targeting children, migrants and caregivers in response to an invitation from the Mayors Migration Council, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and Bernard van Leer Foundation, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The grant has been awarded to Amman for the implementation of the "Amman Climate Park and Academy for Children" project. This initiative aims to renovate the four-dunum Maysaloon Park and implement programmes to enhance children's awareness of climate and environmental issues.
