AMMAN — Public health professionals, epidemiologists, and officials from health ministries across the region joined a workshop in Amman on Sunday on data management in public health emergency situations, organisers said.
Some 29 participants from 10 countries are attending the five-day workshop, organised by the Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET).
The workshop will introduce tools and techniques used for data management in public health emergencies, to enhance regional capacities and enable participants to respond more efficiently to emergencies, EMPHNET said in a statement.
Data and information systems behave differently during the acute phases of emergencies, and different approaches are needed to suit the challenging conditions complicating emergency situations, the network said.
After the training, the participants will be able to effectively handle data in the acute phase of emergencies from collection to reporting and communication, EMPHNET said.
