AMMAN — Air defence systems intercepted and shot down four missiles that entered the country's airspace from Iran early on Monday, according to an official military source.
The source, from the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces - Arab Army (JAF), said that the interceptions were carried out successfully as part of operational measures to safeguard the Kingdom's sovereignty, national security, and the safety of its citizens.
No casualties or property damage were reported, the JAF source said in a statement.
The statement said that Royal Engineering Corps teams were dispatched to several locations to secure and remove missile debris in accordance with established technical and security procedures.
The source added that JAF remains on high alert and are closely monitoring developments to respond to any threat to the country's security or airspace.
The statement warned that any violation of Jordan's sovereignty or airspace would be met with a firm response in line with the rules of engagement and the country's national interests, stressing that the armed forces would take all necessary measures to protect the Kingdom's security and stability.
The source also urged the public to rely on official sources for information and to avoid spreading rumors or unverified reports.
