AMMAN — Air defence systems intercepted and shot down four missiles that entered the country's airspace from Iran early Tuesday, the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army (JAF) said.
A military source said that the interceptions were carried out as part of measures to safeguard the Kingdom’s sovereignty and protect its citizens.
No casualties or property damage were reported, according to the source.
The source added that Royal Engineering Corps teams dealt with the debris that fell in several locations in accordance with approved technical and security procedures, taking the necessary measures to secure the sites and ensure the safety of citizens and property.
The source, quoted in a JAF statement, stressed that the army remains on the highest level of alert and are closely monitoring regional developments, ready to respond to any threat targeting Jordan's security or airspace.
The statement warned that any attempt to violate Jordan's sovereignty or airspace would be met with a decisive response in accordance with the country's rules of engagement and national interests.
It added that JAF will take all necessary measures to protect the kingdom's security and stability.
The military also urged the public to rely on official sources for information and avoid spreading rumors or unverified reports.
