Agreement signed with four charities to disperse SEED grants

AMMAN — The Sustainable Environment and Economic Development (SEED) Project in Jordan on Saturday signed an agreements with four charities at the Ayyubid Hall in Ajloun Castle to implement SEED’s grants between the Canadian and the Jordanian governments, according to an Energy Ministry statement.

Energy Minister Hala Zawati pointed out the importance of focusing on and supporting charities through conducting such projects, that reduce energy bills and push local societies’ development forward.

Zawati explained that this was one of the 128 projects implemented by SEED in cooperation with the Sustainable Energy Fund. Rasmi Hamzah, the director of the Energy Efficiency Fund stressed that the main objective of the fund is to support renewable energy projects, in Jordan.

Hamzah said that 90 per cent of the project or $22 million, was covered by the Canadian government while the Jordanian government’s contribution amounted to 10 per cent.

The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Ajloun Ali Majali, official bodies and other local community representatives.
