Agreement signed to enhance persons with disabilities’ participation in polls

AMMAN — The Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities (HCD) and Watan Human Rights Organisation on Monday signed a cooperation agreement to support the Jordan Alliance for Persons with Disabilities’ initiative to observe the 2020 parliamentary elections.

Under the agreement, signed by HCD President HH Prince Mired and president of the organisation Lawrence Magares, the council shall prepare forms to verify the availability of necessary facilities at polling stations and provide technical support and training on verification forms and requirements for persons with disabilities’ political participation.

The organisation will observe the electoral process across the Kingdom through the participation of 150 persons with disabilities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
