AMMAN — The Higher Council for Science and Technology, the National Fund for Enterprise Support (NAFES) and the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) on Wednesday signed an agreement to promote NARC as an internationally accredited centre for seed testing and research.
The agreement was signed by the higher council’s Secretary General Khalid Shraideh, chairman of NAFES’ supervisory committee Nizar Haddad and NARC Director General Ghassan Rawashdeh, as well as by the director general of the Sama Company, which will help the centre in attaining accreditation, according to a higher council statement.
The agreement aims to reinforce cooperation among representatives of each organisation to ultimately help the centre attain an ISO 17025 certificate, which is an accreditation from the International Organisation for Standardisation.
In the statement, Haddad highlighted the importance of the agreement for the agricultural sector as accreditation would make Jordan the second Arab country in the Middle East accredited for seed testing.
