Acting PM, army chief receive Pakistan military leader

AMMAN — Acting prime minister and Education Minister Mohammad Thneibat on Monday received Pakistani Chief of Army Staff Gen. Raheel Sharif and stressed the depth of Jordanian-Pakistani relations

Thneibat voiced Jordan's interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

During the meeting, attended by Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Mohammad Momani, Thneibat highlighted Jordanian-Pakistani military cooperation.

Moreover, he commended Pakistan's supportive stances to Arab and Islamic issues. 

The meeting covered ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in education with a focus on human resources. 

Discussions also addressed challenges in the Middle East and efforts to combat terrorism.

For his part, Sharif commended Jordan's approach to regional and international issues, voicing Pakistan's interest in boosting cooperation with Jordan, especially in exchanging military expertise. 

Also on Monday, King’s Military Adviser and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben met separately with Sharif and discussed with him regional and international developments, in addition to issues of mutual interest, a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) statement said. 

 

During the meeting, attended by HRH Prince Feisal, Zaben honoured his counterpart with the Order of Merit of the First Class, bestowed upon him by His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of JAF in an expression of the depth of relations between the armies of the two countries.
