AMMAN — The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) and Jordan's Textile, Readymade Clothes and Footwear Syndicate on Tuesday called for regulating the e-commerce industry.

During a meeting with the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yousef Shamali, the boards of directors of the ACC and the syndicate raised several pressing issues related to e-commerce, postal deliveries, street vendors, invoicing systems and the efficiency of goods flow at the Aqaba port.

The discussions also focused on providing financial liquidity to investors in this sector, the potential deferral of loans during Ramadan and streamlining inspection procedures at ports and border crossings, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Shamali highlighted the government's measures aimed at cost reduction and ensuring supply chain stability amidst regional events, including the Israeli aggression against Gaza and the Red Sea navigation crisis.

He underlined the government's directives to manage potential inflationary impacts on the local market stemming from developments in the Red Sea, including the introduction of a custom cap on the value of incoming containers at their pre-October 7th prices from last year.
