AMMAN — A total of 85 samples were taken from people who were found to have been in contact with a deceased person who tested positive for the coronavirus in Salt, Balqa Governorate Health Director Wael Azab said on Tuesday.
Azab told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that the test results from the samples, which were sent to the Ministry of Health’s laboratories, will be confirmed on Tuesday evening.
Those who had been in contact with the deceased person were instructed to self-quarantine and will remain in quarantine in their homes for 14 days if the results come back negative.
Five epidemiological inspection teams had been working since Monday to track the contacts of the deceased patient, who was the sixth person to die of COVID-19 in Jordan and had worked in a hotel in Amman.
National Anti-Pandemic Committee Spokesperson Nathir Obaidat said on Monday that the deceased had been declared dead upon arrival to the hospital emergency room, adding that he tested positive for the coronavirus in the postmortem testing.
