49 water theft cases detected near Kafrain Dam — PSD

AMMAN — During a comprehensive security campaign carried out in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), the Ministry of Water and Irrigation on Tuesday announced that 49 cases of water theft were identified close to the Kafrain Dam.

Massive amounts of water, exceeding 500 cubic metres per hour, was drawn and sold to hotels and farms in violation of existing regulations.

The Water Authority on Wednesday reported that two additional illegal wells were found in Maan Governorate, and cases of unauthorised tampering with main water lines were discovered in Karak’s Al Qaser region. All wells were sealed, and the necessary measures were taken to address the situation, according to a Water Ministry statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
