‘4,746 domestic violence cases reported in 2013’

AMMAN — The Family Protection Department dealt with 4,746 domestic violence cases in 2013, according to figures released on Tuesday.
The cases involved 2,298 children under 18 (1,311 girls and 987 boys) and 2,448 women.
According to the figures, females were the victims in 79 per cent of the registered cases, and children in 48.41 per cent.
