390 teachers, engineers to take Arabic proficiency test — ministry

AMMAN — The Education Ministry is scheduled to hold an Arabic proficiency exam, to be taken by 390 teachers and engineers on Wednesday for employment at the ministry, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Monday.

The exam will be held at the Queen Rania Center for Information and Education Technology in Amman, the Education Resources Center in Karak for the southern region and Irbid for the northern region, the ministry’s Human Resources Director Mohammad Dahiyat told Petra.

Two weeks ago, 482 teachers sat for the exam, Petra reported. The exam is being held under a 2016 by-law approved by the Cabinet in June that requires teachers, broadcasters and editors to take an Arabic proficiency exam. Teachers, broadcasters and editors will not be hired unless they pass the Arabic proficiency exam.
