AMMAN — The Public Prosecutor Office has filed charges against 35 people across the Kingdom, accusing them of committing two crimes: Carrying and possessing firearms without a proper licence in violation of articles 3, 4 and 11/d of the Firearms and Ammunition Law, and discharging firearms without justification in violation of Article 330 of the Penal Code. As a result, the individuals have been detained in rehabilitation centres under the supervision of the Public Security Directorate, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. A judicial source on Sunday revealed that the Public Prosecutor's Office filed two charges against all 35 individuals after the authorities caught them firing live ammunition in celebration of the announcement of the General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi) results. Under the law, those found guilty of such offences could face prison sentences of one year or more, especially if the discharge of firearms results in death or injury.
