28 COVID deaths, 2,976 virus cases recorded Saturday

AMMAN — Twenty-eight COVID-19 deaths and 2,976 virus cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Saturday, increasing the caseload to 971,401, the government announced.
The new fatalities took the Kingdom’s coronavirus death toll to 11,715, according to a joint statement issued by the Prime Ministry and Ministry of Health.
The share of tests returning a positive result, known as the positive rate, stood at nearly 9.70 per cent.
A total of 30,680 virus tests were also conducted on Saturday, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the outbreak of the pandemic to 12,351,487, according to the statement.
The statement added that 3,579 recoveries were registered in hospitals and home quarantine on Saturday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 899,555.
The statement added that there are currently 60,131 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.
A total of 147 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals on Saturday, taking the number of patients currently receiving care for COVID-19 in hospitals to 1,159, the statement said, adding that 99 recovered patients have left hospitals.
On hospital capacities, the statement revealed that in the northern region the occupancy rate of isolation beds occupied by COVID-19 patients reached 27 per cent, ICU beds reached 54 per cent, while the occupancy rate of ventilators stood at 37 per cent.
In the central region, isolation bed occupancy rate reached 29 per cent, 39 per cent for ICUs and 19 per cent for ventilators.
The statement added that the southern region registered an isolation beds occupancy rate of 14 per cent, 15 per cent for ICUs and 14 per cent for ventilators.
The cases comprised 751 in Amman, 1,000 in Irbid, 340 in Zarqa, 307 in Balqa, 43 in Karak, 14 in Maan, 98 in Jerash, 24 in Aqaba, nine in Ajloun, 185 in Mafraq, 28 in Tafileh, 110 in Madaba, 67 in Ramtha district and no cases were registered in Petra district.
The statement also added that the total number of people who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine has reached 4,160,104, while 3,768,621 have gotten their second shot.
The number of people who have registered on the vaccination platform has reached 4,510,190.
