AMMAN — Police are searching for suspects in connection with the shooting death of a man in an Amman suburb over the weekend, official sources said Saturday.
The 20-year-old victim was found shot dead in the street in the Hai Nazzal suburb on Friday night, a senior official source said.
“It seems that the victim was involved in a brawl because coroners at the scene found bruises and knife marks on different parts of his body,” the source told The Jordan Times.
The victim was identified by officials and his next of kin were notified of his death, the source added.
Criminal Court Prosecutor Ishaq Abu Awad ordered that blood and tissue samples be taken to the crime lab for further analysis, a second source said.
“Abu Awad also supervised the autopsy of the victim which indicated that he received one fatal bullet to the chest and multiple superficial wounds on his body,” he added.
The bullet was sent to the crime lab for ballistics matching, according to the second source.
Public Security Department Spokesperson Maj. Amer Sartawi was unavailable Saturday evening for comment.
