1,940 illegal workers deported this year — ministry

AMMAN — The Labour Ministry has closed 1,013 institutions found to be in violation of the Labour Law and deported 1,940 illegal guest workers since the beginning of this year, Hamadah Abu Nijmeh, the ministry’s secretary general, said on Monday.
At a meeting with the ministry’s labour inspectors and coordinators, Abu Nijmeh said the inspection campaign resulted in the discovery of 4,300 illegal workers, 2,335 of whom are Syrians and 1,668 Egyptians.
He added that financial revenues from fines imposed on the violators exceeded JD2.5 million.
