ZARQA — Zarqa health cadres closed down 19 food establishments, a water desalination station and a beauty salon in February for failing to comply with public health and safety standards, Zarqa health department director Turki Kharabsheh said Sunday.
The owners of the facilities were referred for legal action, he added.
Kharabsheh said inspectors carried out 1,400 field visits to eateries, factories and beauty salons last month, which also resulted in issuing warnings to 346 shops.
In addition, a total of 3,600 kilogrammes of spoiled food was seized and destroyed during the visits.
