AMMAN — Ten underprivileged families in the Abu Alanda neighbourhood of the capital on Thursday received new homes under the Royal initiative for housing underprivileged families.
The initiative was launched upon the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah during his field visits and meetings with citizens and community leaders across the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, who also heads the committee overseeing the implementation of Royal initiatives, handed over the keys and occupancy certificates to the beneficiary families.
During the ceremony, Issawi conveyed His Majesty’s greetings to the beneficiary families, reiterating that the initiative comes within the leadership’s ongoing efforts to improve living conditions for Jordanians.
He said that the initiative reflects King Abdullah’s keenness to support low-income citizens and provide them with a decent and stable housing environment that safeguards their dignity.
Issawi noted that the initiative aims to provide proper housing for families who do not own homes, giving priority to widows, orphans and households that include persons with disabilities.
He said that the initiative continues to support eligible families, noting that around 3,000 housing units have been provided so far, in addition to more than 1,000 units currently under construction in various governorates, contributing to ensuring a decent and stable life for these families.
Launched in 2005 under His Majesty’s directives during his field visits and meetings with citizens and community leaders, the Royal initiative embodies King Abdullah’s vision of ensuring a dignified and stable life for the Kingdom’s neediest families across all regions.
Minister of Public Works and Housing Maher Abu Samen, Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa, Amman Governor Yasser Adwan, Housing and Urban Development Corporation Director-General Jomana Attyat, and Director of the Jordan Office of the International Humanitarian and Charity Organisation – UAE Raed Abu Alafah attended the ceremony.
