‘Rare exhibit’
Oct 14,2014 - Last updated at Oct 14,2014
Since mid-July, residents of Amman and visitors to Jordan have had the opportunity to see a very special exhibit called “Petra: Desert Wonder at the Jordan Museum” (www.jordanmuseum.jo.en/visitor-information).
This exhibition displays many aspects of Nabataean culture and particularly the sculptures found primarily within the city centre.
They are placed in context by the careful presentation with insightful information panels.
Versions of this exhibition in Basel, Switzerland and Leiden, The Netherlands, drew hundreds of thousands of visitors. Alas, here in Jordan, few are aware of what awaits them downtown Amman.
All those who love Petra and Jordan’s history should go to the Jordan Museum. The exhibit closes on December 18.
While at the museum, visitors can also take in the displays on the first floor that lead one through Jordan’s past from prehistoric times to the Byzantine period.
There is so much to explore and learn!
