AMMAN — The value of certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICI) in April reached $129.2 million, marking a 28.5 per cent increase from $100.5 million in the same month last year.
According to chamber figures, the number of certificates of origin issued in April reached 1,587, compared with 1,146 in April 2025.
The textile and leather sector remained the largest contributor to exports, with shipments valued at $114.6 million, followed by the food, agricultural and supply industries sector at $4.85 million.
The pharmaceuticals and medical supplies sector recorded the highest growth rate, rising by 87.8 per cent.
The remaining exports were distributed across the chemical and cosmetics sector, which totalled $4.04 million, as well as the engineering and electrical, plastics and rubber, construction, packaging, paper and stationery, and mining sectors, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Exports to the United States totalled around $85.9 million, followed by the Netherlands at $6.4 million, Germany at $4.1 million, Canada at $4.1 million and Saudi Arabia at $4.1 million.
Al Hassan Industrial Estate accounted for the largest share of exports during April, with shipments valued at $124.3 million, followed by Cyber City at $4.39 million and the chamber's main office at $569,000.
ICI President Hani Abu Hassan said the increase in exports during April reflected the industrial sector's continued positive momentum and its ability to maintain a strong presence in international markets despite shifts in global trade.
He added that the industrial sector in the northern region continues to demonstrate resilience despite regional challenges, maintaining its production and export capacity.
Abu Hassan said the results reflected the sector's strength and the efforts of industrial companies to enhance the competitiveness of their products expand into new markets and adapt to regional and international challenges.
He stressed the importance of building on the growth achieved in key sectors and export markets, particularly the food industry and European markets, to further strengthen the competitiveness of Jordanian industry.
Abu Hassan added that the chamber is working with government agencies and partner institutions to open new markets and diversify exports, while highlighting the Kingdom's efforts to provide a supportive investment environment through measures aimed at preserving the competitiveness of Jordanian products, Petra reported.
