JIFCO expansion set to boost demand for Jordanian phosphate

AMMAN — The technical committee set up for the Jordanian-Indian Fertiliser Company (JIFCO) expansion project discussed, during its technical meetings on Sunday, the implementation plans of the project, which is estimated to cost one billion dollars.

Representatives of international companies specialising in sulfuric and phosphoric acid plant expansions presented the project’s engineering and technical designs, implementation timetable, and mechanisms for enhancing cooperation and monitoring progress.

The expansion aims to increase the JIFCO’s production efficiency and meet growing global demand for phosphate fertilisers, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) Chairperson Mohammad Thneibat underlined the JPMC’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with its Indian partners and mobilising all available resources to implement the expansion in accordance with the highest international standards.

Indian Ambassador to Jordan Manish Chauhan praised the efforts of the JPMC, the JIFCO, and their joint technical teams to advance the project.

He also underscored India’s commitment to expanding economic and investment cooperation with Jordan in support of both countries’ shared interests.

The meeting also underscored the JIFCO’s strategic importance as a successful investment reflecting the depth of Jordanian-Indian relations and its vital role in supporting the fertiliser and mining industries, Petra reported.
