AMMAN — The Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

The agreement, signed during the Jordan-India Business Forum in Amman, was endorsed by Chairman of the JCC Khalil Haj Tawfiq, and President of FICCI Anant Goenka.

The MoU seeks to expand trade and investment exchange, facilitate communication between business communities, encourage trade missions and delegations, and support participation in exhibitions and economic events, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

It also provides for the exchange of information on investment and trade opportunities in both countries, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The MoU includes cooperation in commercial and marketing consultancy, identification of sectors of mutual interest, and regular meetings to monitor progress on joint initiatives, with the aim of strengthening bilateral economic relations.

Officials on both sides described the agreement as a key step in enhancing institutional partnerships between the chambers and supporting private sector efforts to increase economic and investment opportunities.

Chairman of the JCC, Khalil Haj Tawfiq highlighted promising opportunities to expand economic cooperation between Jordan and India, particularly in information technology, energy, logistics, tourism and other sectors.

He said the Chamber hopes that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jordan will stimulate direct partnerships between business communities in both countries, facilitate joint business meetings, and help address obstacles to trade and investment.

Haj Tawfiq noted that trade between Jordan and India reached JD 1.234 billion during the first nine months of 2025, including JD 374 million in imports.

Jordanian exports to India are primarily concentrated in phosphate-related chemical products, led by phosphoric acid and polyphosphoric acids, as well as natural calcium phosphate, aluminium and its products.
