AMMAN — President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Khalil Haj Tawfiq, on Sunday evening inaugurated the Jordanian pavilion at the 21st Arab International Food and Packaging Exhibition, “Food Expo 2026”, held at the Fairgrounds in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
The five-day exhibition brings together 300 Syrian, Arab and international companies, which aims to promote food products, explore trade and investment opportunities and strengthen commercial partnerships among participating firms, according to a JCC statement.
The exhibition covers a wide range of sectors, including; oils, bakery products, grains, baby food, canned goods, dairy products, sweets, meat products, water, juices, poultry and fish, in addition to raw materials for the food industry and packaging machinery and materials.
The Jordanian pavilion features 20 companies specialising in the food industry and packaging sector, with the aim of enhancing the presence of Jordanian products in Syrian and regional markets, and opening new channels for commercial cooperation with importers and distributors.
According to a JCC statement issued on Monday, Haj Tawfiq emphasised that Jordan’s participation, organised by the International Promoters for Marketing and Exhibitions (IPCO), represents a significant step towards strengthening economic and trade relations between Jordan, Syria and other countries.
He said the Syrian market constitutes a natural extension for Jordanian products, adding that the resumption of specialised exhibitions in Damascus enables the private sector in both countries to rebuild its role in fostering trade and investment partnerships that serve mutual interests.
Haj Tawfiq added that Jordanian food industries enjoy a strong reputation, high quality and competitiveness in Arab markets, noting that participation in the exhibition reflects the Jordanian private sector’s commitment to major economic events and its efforts to explore opportunities for export, distribution and cooperation with Syrian and Arab companies.
