AMMAN — As part of the field follow-up tours, the Commissioner of Economic Affairs and Investment at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Mohammed Abu Omar, on Wednesday, made a field visit with a delegate to a number of factories operating within Aqaba International Industrial Estate (AIIE).

The field visits aim to review the progress of work, identify the development plans and expand production, and follow up on the needs of investors in the city, according to ASEZA statement.

The delegate included ASEZA's Director of Investment Services Directorate Saber Eliwa, Director of Investment Promotion Mohammad Hasanat and the Director of Storage Raed Thyabat.

During the tour, Abu Omar visited three companies owned by Iraqi investors in the AIIE; the tour started with a visit to the Shanghai Gateway Trade Company Ltd., which is built on an area of 42 dunums, includes 36 hangars, with an investment value of JD7 million.

He stressed that all facilities and incentives will be provided to enhance the expansion plans and increase investment in the three projects.

The field visit was concluded in the factory of Mashtal Steel Industries Company, an industrial project built on an area of 23 dunums with an investment value of JD12 million

They discussed plans to expand investment and provide all facilities, which contribute to adding new production lines that will double the production capacity by 100 per cent.

During the tour, Abu Omar stressed the keenness of ASEZA to support investors and encourage quality investment within the economic zone, stressing the importance of simplifying procedures to facilitate the investor's journey and provide all Forms of Post-Project Care.

This aims to enhance the opportunities for expansion of high-quality industrial investments in the special zone, which contributes to the creation of new job opportunities.

It is worth mentioning that the percentage of Jordanian workers in these factories reached about 50 per cent of the total number of employees, which reflects the importance of the role of the industrial sector in Aqaba.
