AMMAN — The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) and West London Chambers of Commerce have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the Jordanian and British business communities.

The MoU aims to expand direct communication channels between Jordanian and British companies to foster new joint ventures and partnerships, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Saturday.

The agreement was signed in London on the sidelines of the Jordanian-British Business Forum by ACC Chairman Khalil Hajj Tawfiq and West London Chambers Chief Executive Alan Rides, in the presence of Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah and Minister of Investment Tariq Abu Ghazaleh.

Hajj Tawfiq noted that the signing of the agreement within the framework of the forum, which was attended by His Majesty King Abdullah, reflects keenness to translate distinguished Jordanian-British relations into practical economic partnerships and leverage available opportunities to boost bilateral trade and investment.

He emphasised that the ACC views the MoU not as a mere protocol agreement, but as an institutional work plan designed to yield tangible results through increased corporate communication, trade delegation exchanges, B2B meetings, and expanding access for Jordanian goods and services in the British market.

Highlighting Jordan's competitive advantages, modernised business environment, and strategic position as a gateway for British companies seeking access to regional markets, Hajj Tawfiq stressed the importance of capitalising on the momentum generated by King Abdullah’s meetings with British investors to translate discussions into actionable projects.

Under the MoU, the two sides will cooperate to establish a joint business council representing various economic sectors.

The council will serve as a permanent platform to connect Jordanian and British companies, identify priority sectors, and follow up on joint projects to build sustainable economic partnerships.

For his part, Rides said that signing the MoU with the ACC marks an important step towards enhancing institutional relations between the business communities of West London and Jordan, highlighting broad opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, services, and technology.

Rides expressed the West London Chambers' commitment to working with the ACC to implement the MoU’s provisions, primarily establishing the joint business council, organising trade delegations and direct business matchmakings, exchanging expertise, and developing joint capacity-building and training programmes.

The agreement also stipulates the exchange of market, trade, investment, and economic information, as well as relevant legislation and policy data, to help businesses on both sides better identify opportunities.

West London Chambers of Commerce is a key institution representing and supporting the business community in West London, primarily covering Hounslow, Ealing, and Hammersmith & Fulham, with historical roots dating back to 1908.
