To truly fight Daesh

Feb 28,2015 - Last updated at Feb 28,2015

It is said that the side that benefits most from a conflict or a movement could be presumed to be behind it.

The power that is benefiting from Daesh, therefore, should be identified for the whole world to see.

There are many theories about the genesis of the group, but no one knows for certain where and how it originated. One thing is for sure, though, and that is the fact that the group is not Islamic; if anything, it is anti-Islamic through and through.

There is no way to justify by Islam the group’s killings, which include beheading and burning people alive.

Now the group is destroying historic and religious antiquities under the very eyes of the world.

Daesh does not care for human life, so it cannot be expected to honour human heritage.

The international community should move against this group that is anything but Islamic.

Some believe that it is either Israel or the US that created this monster to wreak havoc in the Middle East.

Some are convinced that if not the US, Israel must be benefiting from the rise of Daesh, because this way it can keep the Arab world at bay, thus free to pursue its designs regarding this area.

Others argue that the US could be behind Daesh because through it, it can divide the Arab countries into mini-states to weaken the Arab world and make it an easy prey to its regional designs.

I cannot agree with any of these speculations because the Daesh curse will eventually devour the US and Israel unless it is destroyed.

A more sane explanation can be found in the theory that radical people, ostensibly Muslims, have grown alienated from their environment and discontented with their lot, either because they are disadvantaged or marginalised in their societies.

The profile of the rank-and-file Daesh member suggests that they are illiterate, poor or unemployed.

The socio-economic profile of the average Daesh member points in the direction of disaffection and alienation from family or society.

A more precise psychological profiling of Daesh members needs to be conducted in order to arrive at a clearer identification of their personalities.

That way, the world can begin the true battle against Daesh based on scientific findings.
