AMMAN — The Jordan Cup’s 9th week will kick off today following the conclusion of Leg 1 of the Jordan Professional League and as the national team heads for Kuwait to play the West Asian Championship.

So far, Wihdat, Faisali, Shabab Urdun and Ramtha booked their places in the quarter-finals of the event with another four set to join them, as the top four teams from each group.

Teams will be without their national team players with another round set for the following weekend.

Wihdat now lead Group A and will play Arabi. Faisali trails one point behind in second place and take on Yarmouk. Arabi are third and go up against Shabab Hussein.

In Group B, Shabab Urdun still top the group and play Ramtha, who are second. Third-placed Sarih go up against Jazira and That Ras take on Baqaa.

Faisali are still undefeated in the Jordan Cup, making up for their inconsistent form in the league where they are now fourth.

Faisali are a record 17-time winners of the Jordan Cup. Wihdat were champs nine times, Ramtha and Shabab Urdun twice each while Jazira and Arabi won once each. The tournament’s winner will get JD45,000 and runners-up JD25,000.

This year, Faisali beat Manshieh to win the 30th Cup Winners’ Cup in the start to the football season.
