AMMAN — Discrimination between boys and girls, having “closed” communities in Jordan and limiting the personal freedom of individuals were some of the challenges 40 students said they face.

In brainstorming sessions held at the Princess Basma Development Centre, participants discussed hardships hindering the advancement of women in the Kingdom as part of activities held to mark International Day of the Girl Child, according to a statement.

For her part, Mais Zanneh, who leads “I Have a Story” initiative, said students aged between 12 and 17 took part in the activities, which also included video conversations with their peers from India, Kenya, Bangladesh and Peru to discuss ways to resolve challenges facing them.
