Six suspects to be tried on drug charges

AMMAN — The attorney general’s office on Sunday referred six suspects accused of importing, trafficking, selling and being in possession of drugs to the State Security Court (SSC).
The trial is scheduled to begin next week and will be overseen by the military panel at the SSC.

The State Security Court (SSC) on Tuesday sentenced six defendants, part of a gang dubbed the “Kamaliyah group”, to 15 years imprisonment on charges of criminal conspiring and possession of illegal drugs and automatic weapons.
The State Security Court (SSC) attorney general’s office on Tuesday appealed the SSC’s acquittal of hard-line cleric Mahmoud Othman in September of terrorism charges at the Cassation Court.
