SHIDIYEH — Workers at the phosphate mines at Shidiyeh began an open-ended strike on Sunday, demanding better pay and improved work conditions.
The protesters, who set up a tent at the entrance to the mines and closed the main gate, threatened to cut off water and electricity supplies to the mines.
The strike led to a complete halt of work.
