AMMAN — A number of areas in Amman will be closed to traffic on Friday morning due to the beginning of the Amman Marathon.

Downtown Amman and the Interior, Sports and Fourth circles towards the city centre will be closed for most of the morning, according to Lt. Col. Khalaf Thiabat, the head of the Traffic Department’s Operations Division.

“Downtown Amman will be closed from 4am and the Interior Circle will be closed from 6am.

All streets will reopen by 11am,” he told The Jordan Times over the phone on Thursday.

The Amman Marathon takes place annually and consists of a number of events including a 42km marathon, a 21km half marathon, a 10km race and a children’s fun race.
