Saif urges focus on long term economic, social challenges

ZARQA — The hike in the Kingdom’s energy bill is one of the most major dilemmas facing the country, Planning Minister Ibrahim Saif said on Thursday, citing other woes, including the Syrian refugee influx to the Kingdom as equally pressing.
During a visit to Zarqa Chamber of Industry, Saif said economic and social challenges are growing more urgent and need to be addressed, and highlighted their impact on the country’s sustainable development plans.
He also said that the government has taken “daring decisions” to achieve mid-term and long-term stability, adding that more measures need to be taken, especially in sectors such as water and energy.
Saif reviewed the government’s social and economic policies for the next 10 years which will form part of the 2015-2025 economic blueprint.
