AMMAN — The Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ) on Thursday suspended pumping water from Abu Zighan station to Deir Alla in Balqa Governorate due to an increase in the mud percentage in violation of drinking water standards.
A source at WAJ said the authority will test samples to ensure the water’s safety, and then resume pumping once the water is proven safe in cooperation with the Ministry of Health.
The source added that northern and southern Twal, western Sawalha and western Maadi areas will be partially affected by the stoppage, with Deir Alla Municipality providing them with water instead.
