AMMAN — Addressing more than 150 young adults from all over the Kingdom last weekend, HRH Prince Hassan urged them to search for and seize opportunities, and to strive towards achievement by their own efforts.
Speaking at the Young Leaders Alumni Conference in Amman, organised by the German Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), Prince Hassan acknowledged the obstacles facing many young Jordanians regarding issues such as unemployment and shortcomings in the educational system, according to an FES statement.
The prince stressed the need for unity in the face of taxing times in the region, noting that pluralism is a central pillar of the fight against terrorism and sectarian strife.
Humanity and tolerance should be shown to all people, regardless of their race, ethnic origin, religion or gender, he stressed.
Continuous dialogue, the prince emphasised, is a powerful tool to overcome barriers.
Prince Hassan underlined the importance of transparent and accountable governance, stressing the need for active citizenship and commending young people for their initiatives and dedication to constantly improving the lives of all Jordanians.
The participants were alumni of the Young Leaders programme, which FES has been conducting in Jordan since 2009, the statement said.
Coming from all the Kingdom’s governorates, the alumni have completed training on politics, economics, social policy and soft skills.
The foundation, which opened its office in Amman in 1986, said many of the alumni have launched their own initiatives to tackle social challenges, such as violence, unemployment and energy shortage.
