AMMAN — HRH Prince Hassan has underlined that giving priority to the voice of reason and wisdom is an effective mechanism to spare the Middle East region many crises.

He made his remarks on Friday at a meeting in Athens with Greek President Karolos Papoulias, during which he called for joint action to build a new humanitarian order that affirms people's right to a decent life and ensures stability for the coming generations.

Discussions also covered the latest developments in the Middle East and their impact on the stability of the region, in addition to issues related to Arab-European ties and means to foster them, according to a statement received by The Jordan Times.

Also during his visit to Greece, the prince met with Defence Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos and reviewed developments on regional and international levels and the effects of the refugee influx caused by the latest crises.

At a meeting with Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and All Greece, Prince Hassan stressed the need to maximise common denominators between followers of different religions.

The prince voiced his concern over the current regional crises, which aim at controlling energy resources.

For his part, Archbishop Ieronymos said he was worried about the situation of Christians in the Middle East, commending the prince's efforts in promoting peace and tolerance, the statement said.
