AMMAN — Police on Monday said they are questioning a 27-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his Ukrainian wife to death, official sources said.

The suspect, who was not identified by police, reportedly stabbed his 32-year-old wife to death at their home in Sweileh, Public Security Department Spokesperson Lt. Col. Mohammad Khatib told The Jordan Times.

“We still do not know why he stabbed her and are still questioning the suspect,” he added.

Criminal Court Prosecutor Ramzi Nawayseh is questioning the suspect and other witnesses before levelling any charges, a second judicial source told The Jordan Times.

Nawayseh issued orders for the suspect to be detained for 14 days pending further investigation into the case, the source added.
