Police officers honoured for returning $4,285 to owner

AMMAN — The Central Traffic Department (CTD) on Tuesday honoured two police officers for “their integrity” in returning $4,285 they found while on duty, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, quoting a Public Security Department official.

CTD Col. Yaser Harahsheh honoured Hassan Khaldi and Qusai Issa, who found a wallet containing the money while on duty at Abdoun Circle in west Amman on Monday.

The officers handed the wallet to the CTD, which managed to identify the owner and return it to him.

The owner thanked the police for their efforts to keep Jordan and its residents safe and sound, according to Petra.

The PSD said the gesture is a way of expressing appreciation to Khaldi and Issa for fulfilling their role as police officers since they have shown what it means to protect Jordanians and become a role model for one’s colleagues.

In late February, a similar incident occurred in Irbid when a lady forgot a handbag containing over JD2,000 in a taxi and the cab driver reported the incident to the Irbid police department, which returned the money to the woman.
