Shameful int’l reaction

Apr 10,2018 - Last updated at Apr 10,2018

There has been yet another chemical attack in Syria, this time on Douma in Eastern Ghouta. Bombs dropped by helicopters were seen conducting the attack. Reports say that no less than 80-90 people died in the attack, many of them children.

The TV images on the attack cannot hide what has happened. Yet, the same scenario on the use of chemical weapons is being repeated. Damascus denies any such attack and Russia is backing up the Syrian denial.

The question that remains is how many more chemical attacks must be waged before the rhetorical condemnation of the deployment of chemical weapons in Syria invites a more determined action by powerful capitals, especially those which issued clearly worded warnings to Damascus against the use of chemical weapons.

Damascus is in a hurry to finish up whatever is left of opposition in Eastern Ghouta and, as usual, nothing is off limit to pursue this goal. Moscow is, as usual, standing by Damascus no matter what.

In the eyes of Moscow, Damascus can do no evil. Pure and simple. This outrageous serial must end, but how.

The US Department of State issued a statement in the aftermath of the recent attack, saying that the world must stop chemical attacks in the future. In other words what is done is done!

Of course, such a statement, and similar ones coming from other major capitals, do not and will not end the carnage in Syria. This shameful international reaction will not go unnoticed or without a price.

Last year, US President Donald Trump reacted swiftly to a similar attack by ordering a missile attack on the Syrian base from which the chemical attack had originated. This time, Trump is not only silent, but he has repeated what he declared a few days ago, that he wants to wash the US’ hands off the Syrian conflict. Let's leave the Syrian mess to others, he said.

Well, if that is not an invitation to Damascus and its backers to do what they choose to do in Syria, we do not know what is. So much for the credibility of the US.

IT IS VERY SHAMEFUL IF THESE STORIES CAN BE AUTHENTICATED. SO FAR, IT HAS BEEN A FUNCTION OF YOU SAID, HE SAID AND IT IS VERY VERY DIFFICULT TO MAKE ANY SENSE OUT THESE STORIES. I AM ON THE SIDE OF THE TRUTH AND PEACE BUT IT IS VERY HARD FOR ME TO CONNECT THE DOTS. FIRST, WHY WOULD SYRIA BE DOING THIS NOW THAT THEY HAVE IN FACT LIBERATED THE CITY? ARE THEY GASING THEIR OWN SOLDIERS AND SUPPORTERS? WHAT IS THE TACTICAL MILITARY ADVANTAGE OUT OF THIS? THE WHOLE PICTURES, TRUTHFUL OR NOT IS ENOUGH TO MAKE ANY ONE SICK. LET US NOT FORGET THAT THE SO-CALLED GOOD OPPOSITION FORCES HAVE THESE GASSES AS WELL. LOOKING AT THE TIMMING AND FACTS ON THE GROUND, WHO IS MOST LIKELY TO THINK OF THIS BARBARIC ACTS?. HOW COULD THE SYRIAN FORCES BE GASSING THESE PEOPLE ALMOST SIMULTENOUSLY AS IT WAS UNDER MISSILE FIRES ABOVE THE SKY?. WHY WAS THIS HAPPENING AT A TIME OF HIGH TENSION AMONG THE SYRIAN-PHOBICS AND REPEATED CALLS FOR THE HEAD OF ASSAD TO GET IRAN? AGAIN, I HAVE TO REMIND READERS THAT I LOVE ALL THE SYRIAN PEOPLE JUST I DO TO ALL THE COUNTRIES IN THAT REGION NO MATTER WHICH SIDE THEY ARE ON BUT THE SIGNICANT CAUSES OF THE SYRIAN CIVIL WAR CARNAGE ARE EXTERNAL RATHER THAN INTERNAL. ONE WILL WISH THAT THE ARAB WORLD WILL BE ON THE SIDE OF PEACE AND THEIR LEADERS HELPING TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAME OF DEATH AND DESTRUCTIONS RATHER THAN TAKING SIDES AND EVEN GETTING DIRECTLY INVOLVED INTO THE BATTLE OF HELL. AT THE END OF THE DAY, THERE WILL BE NO WINNERS BUT RATHER LOOSERS FOR ALL. LOOK AT WHAT IRAQ HAS BROUGHT TO THE ARAB WORLD TO MENTION BUT ONE. NOW THAT THE WAR MONGERS IN THE REGION AND THEIR ALLIES ARE ABOUT TO GET THEIR WISH OF EXPANDED WAR, THEY SHOULD ALSO THINK OF THE CONSEQUENCIES. IF A WIDER WAR BREAKS UP IN SYRIA TODAY WHO WILL WIN? NO ONE!!!!!. EVEN YOUR LEADERS WHO HAVE BUNKERS IN THEIR PALACES BREATH THE AIR AND UNFORTUNATELY KILLING BY THE WAY OF AIR POISONING OR POLUTIONS KNOWS NO BOUNDRIES UNLESS YOU CAN SURVIVE IN A BUBBLE. THIS TOPIC IS VERY MUCH CHARGED AND SENSITIVE TO THE POINT THAT I AM AFRAID OF WHAT MAY COME. MAY GOD BLESS US ALL AND SAVE US FROM THIS SLIPPREY SLOPE.
